To: whom it may concern.
Recently I had this correspondence with an organization counselor-Nikki kagan.
I would like to know whether you have any ideas of how to continue our social struggle for our rights as people with disability problems.

Exactly-we try to talk for a long time of many years with our Israeli politicians. I think because of so many efforts failed we must search any probable way of how to activate more and mpore pressure on politic factors.
As we know politicians will do nothing if there is no pressure on them-so I have already tried to talk with a plenty journalists and lobbyists-and I continue to search any possible way to do this.

I hear you, Assaf and there are so many ways in which our government fails us. It is frustrating and inappropriate— to say the least. If it’s possible to get the ear of even one influential politician… I have one more person I can ask.

It is very important to say I do not search for any help for myself in these letters. I am speaking about the public of people with disability problems in ISRAEL-the all public and not specific on me. I am searching ways to promote our interest-and this is the great and very difficult challenge we don't succeed to promote for a plenty of years.
nowadays our public campaign is in absolute deadlock-but because of so many sick and disabled people are dying in streets from hunger or poverty problems I cannot stop making this effort 24/7.

Dear Nikki, thanks for this mail. when you get back we can arrange a meeting. Unfortunately I don’t know what I could do for Assaf to help. Now a pensioner, and Giora a disabled pensioner, I am experiencing the inadequacy of the pension system in Israel.
Best wishes for the New Year, fast well,
Love Anita

Dear Anita—we keep speaking about meeting but alas, time gets away from us…
First of all, Shana Tova to you and Giora— I really hope we can find some time to catch up soon. I’ve traveling again just after Rosh Hashanah until Sept. 24 but maybe after that.
I wanted to share with you a request for help I received from Assaf Binyamini who has been trying (unsuccessfully) to lobby for more services and support in Israel for the disabled. I wondered if, because of your life’s work dedicated to helping the disabled, and having traveled in those ‘circles’ you might have some advice or suggestions for him? I have copied him on this email.
I can imagine how frustrating it must be for him and would like to find a way to help.
Warmly,
Nikki
Hi Assaf!
Thank you for putting in the effort in English. So if I understand correctly, you are looking for support (outside Israel because you can’t get it from Israel) for the disabled to have opportunities for better employment/income potential and supporting them in other ways as well? I don’t know enough about it to know if/how I can help but I’m certainly willing to learn/understand more and see if I can help make connections int he US for example. Can you share more about the specific problems in addition to employment? that will help me better understand if/how I may be of help.
I can certainly identify and sympathize with you about the Israeli government. Much like the US , I’m afraid, the two leaders are more interested in big business and money than supporting the people of the countr
y…
Warmly,
Nikki
So I try to explain it in English-we, the public of people suffering from disability problems are trying for many years a plent of activities for making our monthly salary bigger and improve the treatment conditions. But unfortunately-all the authorities in ISRAEL refuse for many years doing the essential legislation fixing which may change our situation better-and I mean when I write "all the authorities in ISRAEL" of course to the israeli governments, the parliament in ISRAEL-the "knesset", journalists(the last years I had conversations with a lot of journalists), courts and so on.
In this situation my conclusion is to write to a plenty of international places outside ISRAEL-and this is my last and desperate action-after all the people and ministries in ISRAEL are doing nothing and only take me back and forth from each one another.
When I write to organizations or people outside ISRAEL I have two goals: attempting to invite pressure from outside on ISRAELI politics and decision makers in order to cause them starting treating the disabled people crisis much more seriously-and also examine the possible potential of cooperation between organizations of people with disablity problemsa in ISRAEL to organizations this type of activity in another countries for improving way of living of disabled populations arround the world.
I have some difficulties: I don't have connections with politicians or people with any kinds of public influence in other countries-and I don't know foreign languages: I know only Hebrew as mother-tongue and English which I write now in very basic level only.
And after all this long explanation I want to ask you: Do you think you can take a part in this kind of activity? and if you can-I want you to elaborate on how and in which ways or acts.
assaf benyamini.
